I am a Canadian expat living in Ravenna, Italy, one of the world's capitals of mosaic art with UNESCO sites such as San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia.
Throughout my life I have come into contact with various art forms, mixing media as often as possible to create unique pieces. Some of the techniques I use are: watercolour painting, oil painting, illustration, chalk drawings, polymer clays for jewellery, beading, wire and metal work, tatted lace work and more recently I have discovered the joy of wet felting for textiles like bags, scarves and clothing.
While living in Ravenna and working with Master mosaicist Luciana Notturni as an interpreter and mosaic teacher since 1999, I had the opportunity to learn the ancient technique of mosaic making, creating reproductions of antique mosaics with the utmost precision. My skills have expanded over the years to include various types of mosaic art including:
